"Castelli di Ceramica" is a modular ceramic vase designed by Andrea Cingoli. This innovative design takes inspiration from the traditional ceramics of Castelli and combines beauty and functionality. When open, the kit serves as a fruit bowl or container, adding a touch of elegance to the table. When closed, it transforms into a piece of furniture with sinuous shapes, perfect for decorating tables or sideboards. Additionally, each individual part of the kit can be used as a bowl.
What sets "Castelli di Ceramica" apart is the meticulous hand-painted decoration by the Maestri Ceramisti of the Castelli tradition. Each vase is a masterpiece, showcasing the centuries-old artistic heritage of the region. The project has received the patronage of territorial institutions, further highlighting its significance.
The production process involves modeling the ceramics on a lathe or plaster mold. The final decoration is always done by hand, with the Maestri Ceramisti incorporating traditional themes from the Castelli tradition. The kit can be made in different types of ceramic, allowing for various firing methods to cater to different uses, including food use. The specifications of the kit range from a height of 35 to 60 cm and a maximum diameter of 20 to 50 cm.
"Castelli di Ceramica" not only celebrates the artistic tradition of Castelli but also aims to revitalize the local artisan industry. The project is based in the picturesque village of Castelli, known for its scenic beauty and centuries-old ceramics tradition. The goal is to develop local production and bring the product to international sales channels within 12 months.
This design has been recognized for its excellence and innovation, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware category in 2021. The award acknowledges the well-designed, practical, and innovative nature of "Castelli di Ceramica," which meets professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.
"Castelli di Ceramica" is a testament to the fusion of Italian art and contemporary living, showcasing the beauty of traditional craftsmanship in a modern context. It not only offers functional and aesthetically pleasing tableware but also serves as a symbol of resilience and revitalization for the local community.
